Pakistan Telecommunications Authority Chairman Dr Mohammad Yaseen has said broadband subscribers have increased 100 per cent in the last two years because of growing competition and better infrastructure. However, the sector’s application and content still require much progress.

He was speaking at a seminar organised by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to introduce new and upcoming services of PTCL for corporate customers and enterprises here on Thursday.

With advancement in technology, the corporate sector now has more choices compared to the past, which are more reliable and at the same time available at low costs, the participants said.

He said that will help cut traveling cost nationally and internationally, for the corporate sector can use these services for product launches, interviews of candidates, video conferences, etc.

Replying to a question from a participant about what the core business of the PTCL is, a senior official said, “Information technology and telecommunications are integrating, we are no different and doing the same by integrating the two. We are committed to improving competence in our services.”
