No More Sim Sales at Shops and MNP is Banned

Pakistan Govt have ordered Telecom operators to stop selling new mobile connections through dealers. New sims will be delivered by only Franchise or main service centres. Delivering new mobile connections to customer CNIC address is also being considered.

Government have also implemented ban on MNP service. Mobile number portability (MNP) service allow users to change network without changing number. Now customers in Pakistan can't change their mobile network without changing number. Don't know whether this is a temporarily ban or permanent.

5 SIMs against one CNIC, says PTA

Millions of cellular phone connections are likely to be blocked on the network of different mobile phone network as Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has ordered companies to maintain five SIMs against one CNIC instead of 50 SIMs previously as directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Now it will be 5 sims in total, before it was 10 sims per network.

In May 2012, Chief Justice of Pakistan Chaudhry Iftikhar Muhammad issued a verdict, accordingly, only five SIMs can be owned by one individual through the verification of his or her CNIC, the rest of them, will be expired.

The authority also directed cellular phone companies to submit the plan of regularizing extra SIMs in their stock by November 19 and ensure its implementation till December 30th.

Stopping Cellular Prepaid Packages in Pakistan

Pakistan government is considering to stop prepaid packages of cellular networks in Pakistan. Pakistan's prepaid subscriber base is more than 80% of the whole cellular subscribers.

Reports say that these cellular network failed and are involved in wrong customers data to increase their subscribers base. Several sim cards are not registered on genuinely.

Cellular networks awards their dealers who sell their sims. Dealers use other customers Identification cards to issue new sim cards. For example in Faisalabad new mobile connection price is 50rs but if you pay 200Rs he will give you registered sim card (ie, using other customers ID card for your sim)

Networks are involved too, networks like Telenor love their customers more than government orders. In past, government asked customers to get extra connections blocked which they didn't register on their CNIC. I myself knew a number which was registered on my CNIC but not owned by me, went to Telenor customer service centre and completed the procedure to get that number blocked. But that number is still running and on my name. When contacted the company they told that they are still asking the number user to visit service centre for ownership change. It have been several months, if that number is used in some criminal activity then I will be blamed, not the number user or network.

According to details we have obtained, customer will have to present his/her original ID card at the time of purchasing new SIM. Retailor will bind this ID card number with the SIM, which will be duly verified when customer will call at 789 for SIM activation.

Zong Acquired 51% Shares in Telenor Pakistan - Telecom

According to insider sources, the Zong - Telenor deal has been signed and the news will be announced soon at an appropriate time. The final price of the deal has not been made public but Pro-Pakistan estimate it to be worth around $1.8 billion. What we really need to see is if Telenor and Zong will consolidate or stay separate. The case of consolidation seems strong but it will take some time before complete consolidation takes place. Consolidation is what was long expected in Pakistani telecom industry since it has already reached maturity and growth was not possible in the presence of 5 strong operators.

Let’s see how other companies like Ufone and Mobilink respond to this news. However, it is certain that the industry is going to see some killing competition in terms of prices if the PTA does not use its muscles to bring strong regulations. It is also worth mentioning here that it is the habit of Chinese companies to drop down prices to an extent that the competition is eliminated and once that is done, they create a monoply and rule the market.

MSN Live messenger offline messages sms alerts for Zong - Telecom

As you know Zong Pakistan now provides email to sms service(yourzongnumber@zongsms.pk) and with this you can receive short emails on your mobile as sms free of cost.
There Ufone is also providing email to sms service but Ufone's is not providing free and not compatible with Yahoo and MSN.

Here I am going to teach how to use your Zong for MSN Live messenger offline messages sms alerts, whenever you go offline, your contacts will see you as offline contact with Mobile Icon, it means if they send you chat message at that time you will get those messages on mobile as sms.
Officially Microsoft is not providing MSN mobile alerts service for Pakistan, but we can get it with our Zong connection.
so let me teach you guys step by step getting msn mobile sms alerts for zong.

Go to http://home.mobile.live.com 

In right side Set up  SMS in the number box write long any numbers, type long wrong numbers just to pass this step and then click NEXT

A new page will open with Mobile Phone Details heading,with text in yellow "We need a little more info about your mobile phone." 

Select United States as country, Service provider: (Other), Language: English and in the Mobile e-mail address field write your zong number@zongsms.pk
for example 03112345678@zongsms.pk and click below the NEXT button, for example see the screenshot help below.

In next step you should reach to verification code link page, which will be asking you to enter your 4digit verification code which they sent to you on your Zong mobile email which you entered before.

Usually you will receive your verification code as sms on your Zong within 5 minutes.

Enter your code on the MSN mobile web verification page and click NEXT

After the above steps when you login first time in your MSN official live messenger you should receive following dialogue to allow your buddies to send you sms, click YES

Do the following steps if your contacts say that they do not see you online from mobile.

Go to http://mobile.live.com, If you are not logged in it will ask to you login, do login. After login you will see the Mobile homepage as shown in the picture below, on the right side click on Setup other SMS services

And next you will see a page asking for to Start SMS for Windows Live as shown in the picture below. click on Start button on that page.

On the next page Click on Settings button next to the Messenger.

In the next page click on SET button.

In the next page do these settings

• Send SMS Alerts: ON
• Number of alerts you can receive each month: 100(I think Zong supports 75 but no matter how much maximum we set)
• Send Multiple message for long alerts: Yes

then click Save

 And on next page click Done, Now login to your messenger again you will receive the following dialogue click Yes.
